Meet Our Founder: Levi Stansberry's Vision
How CRUSH Got Started
CRUSH was born from lived experience, loss, and an unshakable commitment to healing communities from the inside out. Our founder, Levi Stansberry, started CRUSH (Community Resources United Sharing Hope) on November 2, 2018—turning his own life journey into a movement of hope.
Raised in Los Angeles County, Levi witnessed firsthand how trauma, addiction, gang violence, and incarceration devastated families—including his own. At just 12 years old, he was pulled into the same cycles that plagued his community. He battled addiction, experienced incarceration, and saw friends and loved ones lose their lives or their futures.
But Levi also found purpose through pain.
Over the years, he volunteered across Los Angeles County—mentoring youth, leading gang intervention efforts, supporting individuals reentering society, and connecting people to resources many didn’t even know existed.
What started with one man giving back eventually needed a name—and a structure.
That’s when CRUSH was born: a nonprofit organization created not just to offer services, but to crush the cycles of addiction, trauma, incarceration, homelessness, and hopelessness. It’s an organization built by people who have lived it, for people still living it.
"I didn’t start CRUSH because I had all the answers—I started it because I knew what it felt like to be lost, overlooked, and alone. I wanted to build something that gave people hope, because hope is what saved me."
Levi Stansberry, Founder
About Our Mission: Mental Health, Recovery, and Housing Support
Mental Health
CRUSH provides comprehensive mental health services, including counseling, therapy, and support groups, tailored to the unique needs of individuals in Los Angeles.
Recovery
Our drug rehabilitation programs offer a safe and supportive environment for individuals seeking recovery. We have individual and group meetings that are tailored to the recovery process.
Housing Support
CRUSH is committed to helping the homeless population in LA. We work to provide access to safe and affordable housing. We also offer resources and support to help individuals maintain stable housing and connect with assistance programs.
From the start, CRUSH was built differently. The organization was not designed around charity but around solidarity. It wasn’t about "fixing" people—it was about walking with them, understanding them, and creating pathways that recognize both the complexity of their needs and the strength of their spirit.
Today, CRUSH is powered by a diverse team of professionals and peers.
Our Team Includes:
  • Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSWs)
  • Marriage and Family Therapists (MFTs)
  • Substance Use Disorder Counselors
  • Registered and Licensed Vocational Nurses
  • Mental Health Advocates
  • CHW'S
  • Peer Support Specialists
  • Care Navigators
  • Outreach Workers and Case Managers
Many of these individuals bring not just credentials, but personal stories of resilience. This dual expertise—professional training + lived experience—is what makes CRUSH so trusted and so impactful. We understand the people we serve because we’ve been them.

Because Levi knows what it feels like to be alone. And he made sure CRUSH would be a place where no one ever has to feel that way again.
CRUSH was built from pain—but is fueled by purpose.
It’s a place where broken systems are challenged, where stories are honored, and where hope is real.
And this is just the beginning.
Why Refer to CRUSH?
We specialize in working with people who are often left behind—those impacted by:
  • Substance use and mental health challenges

Our Community Health Workers (CHWs) and licensed professionals provide high-touch, culturally responsive care coordination and peer support that meets people where they are.
Our Name Means Something
CRUSH stands for Community Resources United Sharing Hope—but it also represents something deeper. A mission to crush the cycles that keep people stuck. To crush addiction. To crush trauma. To crush mass incarceration, systemic violence, poverty, and despair. And to replace them with something far more powerful: hope, healing, and human dignity.
CRUSH: was built from pain—but fueled by purpose.
It’s a place where broken systems are challenged, where stories are honored, and where hope is real.
